ACTIVITIES AT NIRVANA
Sometimes the best way to relax is by being active and outdoors in nature.
The following activities are available at Nirvana Guest House
- Pool and Gardens
Relax next to the pool on our daybed, while listening to nature all around you, or take a walk in the gardens around the guest house. Wildlife is often spotted on the guest house grounds.
- Hiking and Birdwatching
Nirvana is definitely a birders' paradise. The farm is blessed with over 200 bird species with occasional migrants visiting and over 800 tree species. We are in the process of setting out three 5 km hiking trails around the farm where guests can enjoy some hiking, but at their own risk.
- Wildlife on the reserve
Giraffe, Kudu, Impala, Reedbuck, Warthog, Zebra, Klipspringer, Duiker (Red & Grey), Waterbuck, Blesbok, Bush pigs, Warthogs, Leopard, Jackal, Black Sparrow Hawk, Abundant bird life (200 species)
- Chimp Eden
Only 30 meters from the Guest House, there are currently three different chimp groups and enclosures. There are viewpoints overlooking the forest and “foraging areas’ from which visitors and volunteers can observe and study the chimpanzees. Guided tours take place three times a day, every day of the year (weather permitting), when the chimp tour guide talks about chimpanzees, the sanctuary, and introduces the individual chimps and their stories - from the safety of the viewing points. The tour takes approximately one hour. Light meals and refreshment are available from the restaurant before or after the tour.
We are in the process of setting out 3 mountain bike trails on the reserve, a 5km trail for the whole family, 15km trail for intermediate bikers and a 25km trail for the more advanced riders.
